Let’s talk dehydration!

Let’s talk dehydration!

Let’s talk dehydration – it’s ridiculously common and sometimes we don’t even know it. We can become dehydrated from our lifestyle, what we eat and the spaces we spend our time in. Things like aircon, our intake of alcohol and different foods all fuel dehydration and in turn effect our skin and its’ appearance. As the seasons change, so does the climate and our skin – the key is to apply products accordingly. No one product will get you through or be appropriate for every season. The more dehydrated your skin becomes the more your body over compensates and produces more oil, most people mistake this as ‘oily skin’.

THINGS THAT MAKE US DEHYDRATED:

  • Alcohol consumption
  •  Spending too much time in air conditioning
  • Caffeine
  • Sugar
  • Fatty foods with high salt levels
  • Sodium
  • Lack of sleep
  • Excessive sun exposure
  • Smoking

WHEN OUR SKIN IS DEHYDRATED IT CAN SHOW US IN MANY DIFFERENT WAYS, WHICH WE THEN MISTAKE FOR SEPERATE SKIN PROBLEMS:

  • Acne and break outs – due to an over production of oil
  • Redness and inflammation
  • Sensitivity, itchiness and flakey skin
  • Clogged pores
  • Darkness and bags under the eyes
  • Wrinkles and fine lines
  • Dullness and lack of glow
