Have a look at your bathroom shelf for a second.
If you're like most of the women I've treated over the last ten years, there's a serum you bought because everyone was talking about it. A moisturiser a friend swore by. Maybe a toner you used for a week and forgot about. Each one promised to be the thing that finally fixed your skin.
And your skin still isn't quite where you want it to be.
That isn't because you chose the wrong products. It's because nobody showed you how they're meant to work together. Great skin almost never comes from one hero product. It comes from a routine: the right products, in the right order, used consistently.
In this guide I'll walk you through exactly how to build a skincare routine that actually works, the order to apply everything in, how long it takes to see results, and how to find the routine that suits you and your life.

Why one product rarely changes your skin
We're wired to look for a single answer. One product, one fix, done. It feels simpler, and when it's all over your feed it feels like everyone else has already found it.
But your skin is doing several jobs at once. It's holding onto hydration, protecting itself from the sun and pollution, repairing overnight and renewing its surface cells. No single formula can do all of that well.
Here's what happens when one product has to work alone:
-
A serum on unprepared skin can't absorb properly through leftover sunscreen, makeup and oil.
-
Actives without a good moisturiser can leave your barrier dry and irritated, so you stop using them.
-
Treatment without daily SPF means the sun undoes your progress before it has a chance to show.
So you don't see results, decide the product didn't work and move on to the next one. That cycle is expensive, and it's the reason so many shelves look like yours.
A routine breaks it. When each step prepares your skin for the next, every product works harder, and you finally get to see what they were capable of all along.
The right skincare routine order, morning and night
The simplest rule to remember is thinnest to thickest. Water-light textures go on first so they can absorb, and richer creams go on last to seal everything in.
Your morning routine is about protection. Your night routine is about repair.
Your morning routine
-
Cleanse. A gentle cleanse removes oil and sweat from overnight without stripping your skin. If your skin feels tight afterwards, your cleanser is too harsh.
-
Serum. This is your treatment step. Apply it to slightly damp skin so it spreads evenly and absorbs well.
-
Moisturise. Locks in hydration and supports your skin barrier, the layer that keeps moisture in and irritants out.
-
SPF. The step that protects every other one. If you only add one thing to your routine this year, make it daily sunscreen, rain or shine. Our BB Cream has SPF 30+ built in, so your protection and your finish happen in one step.
Your night routine
-
Cleanse, and cleanse again if you've worn makeup or SPF. The first cleanse lifts sunscreen and makeup. The second actually cleans your skin.
-
Treatment serum. Night is when your skin does most of its repair, so it's the best time for your hardest-working actives.
-
Moisturise. A slightly richer layer at night helps your skin hold onto hydration while you sleep.
At a glance

A quick tip: give each layer around 30 to 60 seconds before the next. You don't need to wait for it to dry completely, just long enough that it isn't sliding around.
How long until you see results?
This is the question I was asked most in clinic, and the honest answer is: longer than a week, and sooner than you think.
Your skin renews its surface roughly every four weeks, and that slows as we get older. So most routines need around four to eight weeks of daily use before you see real change in texture, tone and clarity. You'll usually feel a difference sooner, often within the first week or two, as your skin becomes more hydrated and comfortable.
The biggest reason routines fail isn't the products. It's stopping too early.
How to actually stay consistent
-
Keep it to what you'll really do. Three steps you do every day will beat seven you only manage on a Sunday.
-
Attach it to something you already do. Morning routine after you brush your teeth. Night routine before you put your phone on charge.
-
Keep your products where you'll see them. Out of sight really is out of mind.
-
Take a photo on day one. Same light, same spot. In six weeks, you'll be glad you did.
Find your routine: which skincare personality are you?
Knowing the order is one thing. Knowing which products to put in it is where most people get stuck.
So we've done that part for you. Each iyvos bundle is a complete routine, built from formulas designed to work together. And because everyone approaches their skin differently, we've matched each one to a member of our team who lives it every day.

The Skin Nerd: Gab, our founder

Best for: long-term skin health, fine lines and anyone who wants to understand their skin
This one's me. I read ingredient lists the way other people read novels. I want to know what's in a formula, why it's there and how it works with everything else on my skin.

Check the ingredients before you check the price
-
Want to know why something works, not just that it does
-
Care more about how your skin looks in ten years than tomorrow

The Glow Chaser: Jazzy

Best for: dull, tired-looking skin and anyone who wants that fresh, lit-from-within finish
Jazzy is the face in most of our videos, usually with no makeup on. That's the whole point. She wants skin that glows on its own, because it's healthy and hydrated, not because of highlighter.
You're a Glow Chaser if you:
-
Notice straight away when your skin looks flat or tired
-
Would love to wear less makeup and let your skin do the talking
-
Live for that just-had-a-facial feeling

-
Resurfacing Serum: clears away dullness so your skin looks brighter and smoother.

The Minimalist: Holly

Best for: busy mornings, routine beginners and anyone who wants fewer products that do more
Holly doesn't want a ten-step routine and she isn't looking for one. She wants a few products that each do their job properly, so she can get on with her day.
And here's what most people don't realise: a minimal routine is still a routine. Done every day, it'll do more for your skin than any cabinet full of products used now and then.
You're a Minimalist if you:
-
Want to clear your bathroom shelf, not fill it
-
Like results without having to think too hard about it
-
Would rather be consistent than chase the latest trend
Your bundle: Refresh & Brighten
-
Resurfacing Gel Cleanser: cleanses and gently refines in one step, so you get exfoliation without adding another product.
-
Resurfacing Serum: brightens and smooths dull, uneven texture.
-
Daily Moisturiser: one lightweight moisturiser for morning and night, so there's no need for separate day and night creams.
How to use it: In the morning, cleanse, moisturise and finish with your daily SPF. At night, cleanse, apply Resurfacing Serum, then moisturise. Three products, two minutes. If you're new to resurfacing, start the serum two to three nights a week and build up as your skin settles in.

Why we put our routines into bundles
I'll be honest about this, because I think you deserve to know why a brand bundles products, not just that it does.
Every formula is made to work with the others. When you mix products from different brands, you're guessing whether the textures layer well and whether the actives play nicely together. Our bundles take that guesswork away.
You don't have to make ten decisions. Standing in front of a shelf of serums trying to work out which one is right is exhausting. A bundle gives you one clear starting point.
It's better value. Buying your full routine together costs less than buying each product on its own. That saving is there because we'd rather you start with the complete routine than one product that can't do its best work alone.
You're far more likely to see results. When everything arrives together, you start the full routine on day one, rather than adding steps months apart and never quite knowing what's working.
Skincare routine FAQs
What is the correct order for a skincare routine?
Cleanse, serum, moisturiser, then SPF in the morning. At night, cleanse (twice if you've worn makeup or sunscreen), apply your treatment serum, then moisturise. The general rule is thinnest to thickest.
What's the minimum skincare routine I need?
A cleanser, a moisturiser and a daily SPF. If you want to target a specific concern like dullness or fine lines, add a serum. That's a complete routine in four products.
How long should I use a routine before I see results?
Give it four to eight weeks of daily use. Your skin renews its surface roughly every four weeks, so real changes in texture and tone take at least one full cycle.
Can I mix products from different brands?
You can, but it takes more trial and error. Textures may not layer well and some actives can irritate when combined. Using products designed to work together removes that guesswork.
Do I really need to wear SPF every day?
Yes, including cloudy days and days spent mostly indoors near windows. Sun exposure is one of the biggest causes of visible skin ageing and pigmentation, and it can undo the work the rest of your routine is doing.
Is a skincare bundle worth it?
If it's a complete routine with formulas designed to work together, yes. You pay less than buying each product separately, and you start the full routine from day one, which is when results actually begin.
The routine is the product
You don't need another hero product. You need the few that make sense together, in the right order, used every day.
That's what a routine is. And it's what we've built every iyvos bundle around.
So pick the personality that sounds most like you, start your routine this week, and take that day-one photo. In six weeks, I'd love to hear how your skin is feeling.
