For the love of Lipids

For the love of Lipids

We’re pretty certain you would have heard of lipids in skincare product, but unsure what they actually do? Lipids essentially are the good fats that lay just under the epidermal layer of the skin and keep everything else intact. Our bodies naturally produce lipids however we can use products that contain lipids and boost our supply. Lipids are crucial to the healthy function of our skin, they protect, nourish, hydrate and maintain our skin’s elasticity, texture and tone. Lipids look after pretty much everything! Hence why we include them in so many of our products. Some of the main lipids in skincare are CeramidesCholesterol and Fatty Acids.

Iyvos contains the following lipids: Triglycerides, Sterols, Wax Esters, Squalene and Sterol Esters. The ratio of these lipids are consistent with that of a healthy 22 year old, umm yes please! These goodies have an awesome effect on barrier repair and intense improvement on skin firmness. This combination of lipids teaches the skin to rehydrate itself and in time to rely less and less on extra products. Let’s take a closer look at the skin, it’s layers and where our lipids live.
